Prior to forming ProEquity, Michael built a broad-based background in commercial real estate. Most recently, he was Regional Managing Director for Borelli Investment Company in charge of the Central Valley, and worked at a number of real estate brokerages such as CB Richard Ellis and GT Retail (sold to Colliers).While at Borelli, Michael expanded their asset management program by forging strong relationships with the nation’s largest special servicer to CMBS—LNR Partners, LLC. In addition, he was a paramount director in the successful turnaround of a number of other distressed properties for private wealthy individuals, where he implemented an aggressive marketing plan balanced by management of operating costs and tenant retention.
While at CB Richard Ellis, Michael’s team was globally recognized as the National Retail Team of the Year, 1998 for its retailer and landlord representation platforms. At GT Retail, he played a pivotal role in positioning the company for its eventual sale to Colliers.
Over the years, he has successfully developed new business, managed portfolios representing dozens of private and institutional clients and hundreds of exclusive listings, proposed and implemented profitable “value-add” strategies through strategic leasing, and created rollout plans for a variety of retailers. His 18 years of expertise extends beyond brokerage to include development, acquisition for investment, leasing, and management of an array of sizable retail, office and industrial projects as both a principal and investor. Michael is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers in addition to advising and participating in other private and public organizations.
