Brett Birkeland joined ProEquity Asset Management Corporation in May 2017. Centrally based in Austin, Texas, Brett is responsible for leading the firm’s continued growth and expansion across the United States. Brett directs the asset management group operations and business development efforts, sources acquisition opportunities, and executes on investment strategies.
As a seasoned commercial real estate professional, Brett has experience across multiple asset classes in markets that span the United States. Prior to joining ProEquity, Brett was a Senior Vice President at LNR Property, LLC where he developed and executed property strategies for value-add office, retail, multifamily, self-storage and hospitality assets, totaling over 20 million square feet and $3 billion across 30 states.
Brett has also held positions at Forest City Commercial Development, Divergent Resources, and Plains Capital Bank where he focused on acquisitions, development, capital markets, and cultivating strategic relationships.
Brett received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Brett has three young children and also contributes to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Andy Roddick Foundation, and Mobile Loaves and Fishes.
